Gemstones Beginning with "V"

Variscite is a light green-to-aqua colored mineral named for Variscia, the ancient Latin name of Vogtland, Germany, where the gemstone was first discovered. It is sometimes confused with turquoise, but variscite is usually greener in color and often contains white veins. Deposits can be found in Utah, Nevada, Australia, Germany and Brazil. Variscite is said to help balance the central nervous system; to ease depression, fear, worry, anxiety and impatience; and to help build virtue, self-reliance, moral courage and success. Mohs' hardness: 4 to 5.
