Gemstones Beginning with "K"Keshi Pearls look like little flower petals or cornflakes and are actually formed completely from the nacre without any core irritant. See Pearl for more information. Kiwi Quartz is a translucent to opaque quartz that is mottled with green, black and white. See Quartz for more information. Kyanite gets its name from the Greek word for blue. Ranging from a transparent to translucent pale to deep blue, blue-green, brown, and even sometimes colorless, it has a pearly sheen. Deposits can be found in Burma, Brazil, Kenya, Austria, Switzerland, Zimbabwe and the United States. Kyanite is said to help energy move through the body, taking out negativity and bringing in positive vibrations; to ease away old mental and emotional blocks, enabling a new perspective; to activate and enhance psychic abilities; and to help heal broken bones. Mohs' hardness: 4 to 4-1/2 or 6 to 7, depending on the axis. |
